Dear Lit Agents,

I'm seeking representation for THE LOST BOY CHRONICLES: THE OSTENTIFEROUS BOY, an Upper Middle Grade fantasy with strong cross‑over appeal, complete at 39,766 words. It will resonate with readers of A Monster Calls, Nevermoor, and The Graveyard Book.Ten-year-old Osten has always believed he's a mistake. A foster kid haunted by fear, abandonment, and a dark inner voice that tells him he's destined to become a monster. When a violent storm descends on Hearts Grove, Osten's closet door creaks open on its own. Something that has happened in every home he's ever lived in. Soon he discovers the truth: the monsters he's always feared aren't imaginary. They're real. And they've been waiting for him. After a clan of gargoyles attacks his house, Osten, his friends Elle and Danny, and a summoned Ahool named Sioux escape by riding a bolt of lightning into Chthonia, a world where every creature from legend walks, hunts, and remembers. But their shapeshifting guardian, Mr. Unger, is lost in the crossing, leaving the children alone in a realm shaped by fear and myth. As they navigate dark forests, shifting swamps, and glowing red eyes, an ancient entity awakens — the Boogeyman, a creature born from the same abandonment and shame that shaped Osten's life. And it knows he's arrived.THE LOST BOY CHRONICLES: BOOK ONE stands alone but is the first in a planned trilogy exploring fear, identity, generational wounds, and the monsters we inherit. Adults will connect with its emotional depth, while young readers will be drawn to its adventure, humor, and heart.

About Wil

Hi, I'm Wil Powers. Desert rat, playwright, teacher, visual artist, and the guy who found a word from 1656 and built a whole trilogy on it.

The word is ostentiferous. It means "that which brings monsters or strange sights," it has been used in print approximately once since the reign of Oliver Cromwell, and it was sitting there unclaimed like it was waiting for me. So I took it.

I write The Lost Boy Chronicles, a dark upper middle grade fantasy series about Osten Tiferous Stone, an eleven-year-old foster kid whose big feelings summon actual monsters. When the Boogeyman starts collecting children, Osten has to figure out whether the thing everyone fears lives in the dark or in his own chest. It's a series about found family, foster care, and the radical idea that rage is not the only thing a lost boy is made of. I write it for everyone who has ever felt like a mistake. Book One is done. Book Two is already misbehaving on my desk.

When I'm not writing about monsters, I'm teaching, making theater, or working in the studio in the Coachella Valley, where the desert does most of the atmospheric heavy lifting for free. My plays and my visual work chase the same things the books do: grief, belonging, and the people who become family when the original arrangement falls through.

If you're an agent or editor, welcome, the coffee's imaginary but the manuscript is real. If you're a reader, stick around. The eleventh hour is closer than you think
